Pre-K Roll and Record 1–5

Name:
Date:

Today I am practising: subitizing and recording small dice quantities

1

Roll a die showing 1–5. Copy the numeral or draw the dots in row 1.

2

Roll again. Tell whether the new roll is more, fewer, or the same as the first.

3

Roll until you record 3. Circle that row.

4

Roll until you record 5. Put a star by that row.

5

Choose two recorded rolls. Count on fingers to decide which is greater.

6

Draw a die face for a number from 1 to 5 and ask an adult to name it.

Grown-up guide
  1. Use a standard die but reroll a 6, or cover its sixth dot with a small sticker.
  2. Give the child time to recognize a familiar pattern before prompting them to count.
  3. Keep the game to five or six rolls and end by rereading the recorded numbers.
