Pre-K Count and Cover 1–5

Name:
Date:

Today I am practising: matching one object to one counting space

1

Count 1 hat. Cover 1 circle, then say one.

2

Count 2 balls. Cover 2 of 3 circles and leave the extra circle empty.

3

Count 3 leaves. Touch each leaf once before covering 3 circles.

4

Count 4 fish arranged in two rows. Cover 4 circles and say four.

5

Count 5 cups. Cover all 5 circles and point to the last one you counted.

6

Look at 3 leaves arranged differently. Cover 3 circles again. Did the total change?

Grown-up guide
  1. Model touching one picture and moving one counter or crayon mark to one circle at a time.
  2. If the child double-counts, reset calmly and sweep from left to right together.
  3. Ask for the total only after every object has a matching covered circle.
