Finger-Space Sentence Builder

Name:
Date:

Today I am practising: leaving one clear space between words

1

Write I see a bee. Use a finger space after I and see.

2

Fix: Weplaytag. Rewrite it with spaces.

3

Count the words in The dog can run. Draw one small box for each word.

4

Write My cat naps. Tap the table once between each word as you reread.

5

Copy I like red hats. Check the spaces with your finger.

6

Write your own four-word sentence. Ask an adult to count its words with you.

Grown-up guide
  1. Model a space by putting one finger down only after a whole word, not between letters.
  2. Have the child reread while tapping each word to notice whether two words ran together.
  3. Use short sentences so spacing, not handwriting endurance, is the task.
