Cut-and-Order Sentence Scramble

Name:
Date:

Today I am practising: ordering words from left to right in a simple sentence

1

Order: runs / The pig / fast. Copy the sentence.

2

Order: the tree. / sits in / A bird. Circle the first word.

3

Order: We / blocks. / build. Write the sentence with spaces.

4

Find the capital-letter card in: a / red / kite / flies. Put it first and add a period.

5

Fix: at school / I / read. Write it in the right order.

6

Make one new sentence with the cards a, dog, and hops. Read it to an adult.

Grown-up guide
  1. Keep each sentence's words together in a small pile so the task stays focused.
  2. Prompt the child to look for the capital letter before trying every possible order.
  3. Slide a finger under the rebuilt sentence and ask whether it sounds like a complete idea.
