Who, Does What, Where? Sentence Builder

Name:
Date:

Today I am practising: combining a subject, action, and place into a complete sentence

1

Choose I, jump, and at the park. Write the complete sentence.

2

Choose The dog, sleeps, and on the rug. Draw a line under who, does what, and where.

3

Use My friend, reads, and at home. Check that the action matches who.

4

Put these cards in order: in the pond / swims / A fish. Write the sentence.

5

Write a sentence about someone who paints. Add a place.

6

Read one sentence to an adult. Point to the who, does what, and where.

Grown-up guide
  1. Lay out only one card from each column for the first item, then let the child choose independently.
  2. Ask 'Who is doing it?' and 'Where?' when a part is missing instead of supplying the words.
  3. Praise a clear oral sentence before asking the child to write it.
