Pre-K Same Number Pairs

Name:
Date:

Today I am practising: recognizing equal small quantities in different arrangements

1

Match 2 close-together dots to 2 spread-out dots.

2

Match 3 stars in a row to 3 stars in a triangle.

3

Match 4 blocks in two rows to 4 blocks in one line.

4

Match 5 buttons in a circle to 5 buttons in a column.

5

Circle the pair that shows the same number: 2 and 3, or 4 and 4.

6

Draw 3 dots in two different arrangements. Count both.

Grown-up guide
  1. Invite the child to point-count both groups rather than judging by how much space they take.
  2. Say 'same number' instead of introducing the equals sign unless the child is ready.
  3. Ask what changed about the picture and what stayed the same.
