Pre-K Copy an AB Pattern

Name:
Date:

Today I am practising: copying a repeating two-part pattern

1

Copy circle, square, circle, square into four empty boxes.

2

Copy clap, tap, clap, tap by drawing a hand or making the motions.

3

Use two crayons to copy yellow, green, yellow, green.

4

Make an AB pattern with two kinds of safe household objects.

5

Point and say each part while you copy star, heart, star, heart.

6

Show an adult your pattern. Ask them to point to the repeating part.

Grown-up guide
  1. Name the whole repeat—'circle, square'—before the child begins copying.
  2. Cover the model only after the child can say the next two parts aloud.
  3. Use large, easy-to-see marks; copying the order matters more than drawing precision.
