Kindergarten Phonics Ending-Blend Builder

Name:
Date:

Today I am practising: reading and spelling final consonant blends

1

Build fast. Underline the ending blend st.

2

Read milk. Write the two letters you hear at the end.

3

Add nd to fi__ to make find. Read the word.

4

Choose: jump or jut. Which word ends with mp?

5

Change lamp to land. Which ending letter changed?

6

Write one word with sk, st, nd, or mp at the end and read it to an adult.

Grown-up note: Ask your learner to explain one answer in their own words.

How to teach this page

  1. Step 1Tap once for each sound in the blend; do not add a vowel between the consonants.
  2. Step 2Use letter tiles for the first item if the child needs to see the final two letters move together.
  3. Step 3Ask for a slow read first and a smooth read second.
