Picture-to-Sentence Builder

Today I am practising: turning a pictured action into a complete sentence

1

Draw a child kicking a ball at a field. Write one sentence about the picture.

2

Look at a cat on a chair. Write who, does what, and where.

3

Draw a bird flying over a tree. Label the who and action before writing a sentence.

4

A child paints at a table. Write the sentence and circle the action word.

5

Draw your own playground action. Write a sentence about it.

6

Read your best picture sentence to an adult. Ask them to name the three parts.

Grown-up guide
  1. Let the child dictate the sentence first if handwriting would interrupt the idea.
  2. Accept a simple drawing; the teaching goal is connecting the picture to language, not art detail.
  3. Use a gentle question about place when the child gives only a who and action.
