Compare Water Absorption

Today I am practising: comparing absorbency using equal water amounts
With an adult, choose equal-size pieces of paper towel, foil, and cloth. Predict what happens to a drop of water on each.
Place one equal-size drop on each piece using the same dropper.
Observe after a short equal wait. Describe whether the drop spreads, remains, or soaks in.
Which material appears to absorb water? Name the observation that supports your answer.
Repeat with fresh dry pieces. Record any change in the pattern.
Explain why using different water amounts would make the comparison harder.
- Work over a tray and keep water away from electrical equipment.
- Use the same waiting time and dropper for each material.
- Describe results for the particular samples rather than every cloth or paper.
