Date:

Today I am practising: finding two parts that make a whole to 20

1

Whole 10: write 6 and ___ in the two part circles.

2

Whole 12: draw 5 dots in one part. How many dots belong in the other part?

3

Whole 14: complete 9 + ___ = 14.

4

Whole 16: write two equal parts.

5

Whole 18: make a bond with one part 10.

6

Choose a whole from 11 to 20. Draw and label a new number bond.

Grown-up note: Ask your learner to explain one answer in their own words.

How to teach this page

  1. Step 1Cover one part circle with a finger only after the child has seen both parts.
  2. Step 2Ask the child to say the whole sentence: '6 and 4 make 10.'
  3. Step 3Use counters for one item if the written numbers do not yet feel concrete.
